Today it should be a new place with one or two highlights for the eye. It was less about making the route than letting the children run.Having become curious through other komoot reports, the idea arose to drive to a parking lot near the Loburg in Ostbevern and look for a way on the komoot map from there. That such a more spontaneous approach has its pitfalls becomes apparent right from the start. When we want to explore the area, there is a reprimand by an employee, because the Loburg is a boarding school and school grounds. School grounds => mask requirement also outside for everyone, everywhere ... 😷 oops ...Then through an overgrown park behind the castle. Here an upset, because a child could not be found playing in the bushes and the search showed that there are swampy moats hidden there 😲😨😬. Luckily dissolved in good pleasure, the rascal had walked the way in the wrong direction and came back deeply frightened. First of all, relaxation coffee and cocoa from a thermos. ☕Then a short leash policy and from the direction of Bever along icy puddles. The cold very biting today. Finally back across Ostbevern. We get very positive impressions, a modernly built district merges into the historical ensemble and the new town hall. Then back to the cars. By the way, they were in the Loburg teachers' car park, but it turned out that there are passage restrictions, etc., so it's better to look for other starting points, especially during the week.

Well-known "green connections" out of the city area and past the usual places with animals for my daughter. Then a detour to unknown terrain on the Sandforter Berg. There is a kind of quarry here, but it is not marked as a company grounds. Back along the hare because of the sunset and the increasing cold.

As a starting point we choose the parking lot at the Hotel Herrenrest, which is easy to get to. There is a lot going on, a few families are on the toboggan slope behind the hotel, where you can see more grass than snow.We move up to the lookout tower on Dörenberg, which is still closed due to a general overhaul. The landscape is covered in snow, the sunlight wrestles with the fog. A winter atmosphere like out of a picture book.On to Grafensundern, the children build little snowmen, on the descent towards "Achter de Welt" there is a snowball fight. Then towards the Varus tower, in the lower elevations hardly any snow, but all the more mud. The Varus Tower is still closed for renovation. Past the Forsthaus Oesede (also closed for "current reasons" ... 🤪🤯) ... but for us it was about winter and being outside.Back again at the beginning of darkness over the Dörenberg.

An almost full hiking car park to greet you. When I climb up, they all come towards me.The path is very nice to walk, as it was well run in by the hikers, partly ice sheets and slippery slush. Light crampons are advisable and most hikers wore them. The breakthrough comes through the cloud cover approximately at the height of the Zwieselalm. A beautiful view of the Berchtesgaden Alps.Continue through a forest that is becoming lower and provides shade and then through pine fields. Above the summit crosses to Zwiesel and Zennokopf, whereby I no longer hike the ridge of the Zwiesel. Footprints on the Zennokopf, someone dared to walk the tightrope towards Hochstaufen. The descent succeeds before darkness fully sets in. My cell phone cuts out once on the way, hence an incomplete recording.

The Hochschwarzeck is a beginner-friendly small ski area near Ramsau and also has a toboggan run. We ventured there even though it seemed likely it would be full. New Year's Day, little snow in low areas, etc. would lure many there. On the other hand, all commercial tourism is missing this year. When we arrive in the afternoon, many are already leaving. The visitors are widely distributed, no problem at all. The old snow is stuck, partly icy. The guys get a lot of speed and slowly increase the length and steepness of the slope sections.

In Adlgaß there is a good and relatively snow-sure possibility to toboggan. Unfortunately it was overcrowded, we then looked for alternative sections on forest roads, which worked halfway. Then the descent next to the Frillenseebach with ice plates. That was too much tension for the boys, but they managed a lot sledding. The next time, a simple meadow where you can have uncomplicated fun. The recording is screwed up (jump in GPS data too virle Hm ...) because my battery was empty.
