The municipality of Fully maintains one of the last public chestnut groves (châtaigneraie) in the Valais, 17 hectares with about 1000 trees. The planting of chestnuts started around 1200, they used to be an important foodstuff as "bread of the poor". A didactic path informs about the history and use of the chestnuts and there are natural history events. In October at harvest time everyone is allowed to go collecting and Fully is celebrating a big chestnut festival. The area is grazed, currently by llamas and alpacas.
