Bike Touring Highlight
The Leipziger Westend Baugesellschaft AG was a 1888 to 1945 existing corporation whose goal was the infrastructural and structural development of the western districts of Leipzig.
The Westend construction company initially pushed ahead with the completion of the Karl Heine Canal, which was completed in 1898.
The company had its own sandpits and built in 1891 on the Karl-Heine-Kanal a mortar plant. Mortar production away from the construction site proved successful, and mortar was soon delivered to public buildings in the city. For the transport from the mines to the mortar plant there was an extensive field railway network.

Once the channel 28. Was a real scene tip. Were quite disgusting rausgekelt of the owners (a club name Wabe e.V.). Now there is a cafe there again. Clear case of gentrification. Rent everything more expensive.
