Grand Balcon Nord

A classic trail in the Chamonix valley — worth adding to your list. The Balcon Nord connects the Plan de l'Aiguille to the Montenvers station. Breathtaking views of the valley, needles and glaciers in all directions!

An incredibly beautiful tour between the middle station of the Aguille du Midi cable car (Plan du Midi) in Chamonix and Montenvers. You should definitely include the detour via Signal, because from there the view is incomparable! Coming from Plan du Midi, you buy it with a crisp but short ascent, from Montenvers it is much longer. However, the Caves de Glace were already closed from 3:30 p.m. (September), which we would have easily reached if we had taken the tour from Montenvers. But from Plan du Midi we mostly had the sun behind us and the mountain panorama was beautifully lit.
