In 1969 the old Kempten terminal station was replaced by today's main station. Until 1969, Kempten had a terminus, which led to cumbersome transfer manoeuvres. Almost nothing can be seen of him today. The “Forum Allgäu” now stands in its place. Only a few buildings in the area remind us of him: the former post office, the train station hotel and the train station pharmacy. Another souvenir is this driving axle at the former station exit.
