The Music Forest, which overlooks the Flemish Ardennes on a million-year-old witness hill, is highly recommended for nature lovers. Although you can fully enjoy the melody of rustling leaves, the forest actually has nothing to do with music. It owes its name to the Celtic translation of 'swamp': 'Muz'. Tip: in the spring (April/May) you can enjoy a carpet of blooming bluebells. In the music forest you can walk along the designated paths, children can have fun in the two play zones.

The Muziek Forest is more than 100 hectares in size and is located - as is only natural - on the Muziek Mountain, one of the most famous witness mounds in the Flemish Ardennes. The name has nothing to do with music, by the way, but is derived from the Celtic word for swamp. When it rains, you can still get an idea of what our Germanic ancestors meant by that.

What makes the Music Forest particularly interesting for families are the two play forests that are there: one especially for children up to 12 years old and one for young people over 12 years old.

A witness mound has nothing to do with reproduction or the local CSI, by the way. This term from geology refers to an elevation in the earth that is left over from a plateau due to erosion. This mound allows geologists to determine what material the area was made of (and the mound still exists). The witness mound "witnesses" the composition of the layers.

Nice forest with beautifully landscaped paths, in some places when it rains quite a bit of mud. Nice tower (Geuzentoren) on one of the highest peaks of the forest.
