A hike on the outskirts of Berlin over the Falkenberger Rieselfelder and Feldmark is worthwhile in every season for all age groups, also nice relaxing bicycle tours are possible! 👍

Towards the end of the 19th century, under the direction of the building councilor James Hobrecht, numerous sewage farms were laid out in the Berlin area. The Berlin waste water was directed onto the fields. While the water seeped away, the waste, which was mainly natural at the time, remained on the surface and was used as valuable fertilizer. Today almost all sewage fields have been converted into important nature reserves.

Numerous rare birds and amphibians live on the wide areas of the Falkenberger Rieselfelder. Heck cattle and Konik horses are used as natural landscape conservationists.

In this area you can see the remnants of the sewage fields once spread around Berlin. There is an interesting exhibition on this topic in Hobrechtsfelde. Horses, cattle, birds, butterflies and much more can be seen here.
