The nature reserve Hallerey is located about 5 km northwest of the city center of Dortmund and has a size of 72.1 ha. The nature reserve was on 12 September 1977 for the first time under protection. The lake in the Hallerey was created at the beginning of the 20th century by subsidence. Initially, the lake was still used for coal washing the coal mine Dorstfeld. The area is an example of the combination of nature and industry. Walks and bike rides are really worthwhile, a real recreational oasis in the middle between the districts of Dortstfeld, Marten and cream with many amphibians, toads and even bats. The lake is picturesquely situated.

In the Hallerey you can really go for a great walk and cycling and combine great with the Wierlingen district park.

If you do not need a mountain bike, especially since the NSG off the roads is not accessible and should not be.
