Deusenberg and EDG Mountain Bike Arena

The Deusenberg in Dortmund Huckarde, with the EDG mountain bike area, is one of the most popular addresses for bikers, especially in the eastern Ruhr area. Use is free and without prior registration. Everything is available, from a training trail to challenging single trails, and some of the trails were renovated as recently as spring 2016! The slag heap does not have its origins in mining, but is the old Huckarde garbage dump. It rises 55 meters above the surrounding area and from the top you have a very good view of Dortmund. On the top of the heap is an MTB course, also suitable for beginners.

The Deusenberg (de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deusenberg) is located directly on the Emscherweg (de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emscher-Weg) between the districts of Huckarde and Deusen. The former garbage dump is about 55 meters above the surrounding area and offers a wonderful view of the surrounding districts. A staircase about 130 meters long offers pedestrians a ramp that is also used by cyclists to climb the mountain, the highest point of which is about 120 meters above sea level. The EDG Mountain Bike Arena, created on the mountain by the local waste disposal company, is a popular destination with various levels of difficulty for MTB riders. Here you will meet model airplanes as well as walkers, who have the opportunity to visit the adjacent Hansa coking plant (museum). The Deusenberg is also popular with paragliders.
