From 1823 to 1866 the birth house belonging to the university was housed here. Here classes in obstetrics were taught, but only for men. Today it is another university building in Marburg.

Nice old building near Elisabeth Church.
The building belongs to the university.
The building is the former Deutschordenhaus with the oldest parts from the period of 1234/35.

The German House (also Deutschordenshaus or Deutschhaus) was the original residence of the Teutonic Order in Marburg (Hesse). The oldest parts of it date from between 1234/35 and 1250 and therefore date from the time when the Elisabeth Church was built in the immediate vicinity (the foundation stone was laid in 1235).
The Department of Geography at the Philipps University in Marburg moved into the building in the summer semester of 1977.
