The name Augustenruhe is reminiscent of the Prussian spa princess Auguste, who climbed this small mountain on the occasion of a visit to Marburg in 1814. A small, meanwhile, rather weathered obelisk commemorates this day, which was so memorable for the citizens of Marburg at the time. A little below the old obelisk there is a refuge (Augustenruh-Hütte), which offers the lonely hiker protection and refuge in bad weather.

I was a bit disappointed with the obelisk, which I imagined to be bigger, so I photographed it - like everyone else before me - from the bottom up :-) . Hurry up before the green grows over the last view of the castle, otherwise there will only be winter when the leaves are gone for a view of the castle. The nearby Kirchspitze, however, surpasses the Augustenruhe in this respect.
