Three vanished villages ("deserted villages") lie beneath the forest floor: Burgwinkel, Clauberg, and Unterhortenbach t1p.de/deqj3 . A cellar vault from Unterhortenbach can still be seen today.Another type of deserted village is much more noticeable. As everywhere in the Bergisches Land, vast areas of spruce fell into disuse. It's interesting that Prince Hubertus left many of them to grow wild.
