HistoryThe Dürscheid Mill was first mentioned in 1217 by Count Adolf von Berg in a deed of gift. The knights Gottschalk von Dürscheid and Gerat von Waldenburg probably lived in the mill. Subsequently, it also served as a small Bergisch water mill. According to information from the Burscheid town archives from 1965, a bread bakery was attached to the grain mill. The former mill building was rebuilt in 1775 by two brothers from Bornheim, as an inscription in the lintel of the main entrance attests. After structural changes in the 19th century, the complex took on its current appearance. The brick outbuildings also date from this period. The associated barns were built in the 19th and 20th centuries. The mill continued to operate until around 1900. The Dürscheider Mill was subsequently used as an agricultural business until 1978. After that, it served as a private house.
