Solms Castle is located near Butzbach's old town, on Färbgasse. Its core is a late Gothic stone building, built around 1481 as an official residence, incorporating the city wall. Later, it served as the city palace of the Counts of Solms-Hohensolms (until 1630/31). It houses a magnificent Renaissance staircase dating from 1588. From 1879 to 2004, the district court was located here. Today, the castle houses medical practices.
