City wall and witch tower at the church square From approx. 1321-1368 the new founding of the city of Butzbach was secured with a strong, 1,321 m long and 9.3 m high circular wall (with its typical candle arches). Three city gates and several towers also secured the well-fortified city. The Witches Tower is one of the last remaining city wall towers (late 14th century) and was built as a prison and watchtower. The witches accused of sorcery were imprisoned in it until they were sentenced.(qrbutzbach.de/poi.php?e=2&lang=de&s=4&p=15&fbclid=IwAR3sAEwKrbEDgT1l8HA4C_YJ-pbsqM1RpffpWgZd-1_3s0FxD1cWEK8Rx4s)

The old city wall is beautifully restored on the inside, with candle arches. The Witches' Tower 🧙♀️, part of the old city wall, is also still preserved.
