The Feldschützenhäuschen was built in the 18th century to provide shelter from the weather for the "Feldschützen". The Feldschützen had the task of driving away the game that came out of the forest, especially at night, and helped themselves to the crops in the Braunäcker fields. At that time, farmers from Waldenbuch and Dettenhausen grew potatoes and grain, and fruit trees were added later.
The Feldschützen also had the task of chasing away fruit thieves and crows pecking at seeds, as well as clearing ditches so that water could drain away unhindered.
