First of all: Cycling is prohibited in the Hofgarten.
I have also set it as a highlight because a detour is simply worthwhile. So park or push your bike and treat yourself to half an hour.
After completion of the construction work on the residence, the final design of the Würzburg court garden was tackled during the reign of the Würzburg prince-bishop Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim (r. 1755-1779). In order to realize his plan, Seinsheim hired the Bohemian-born garden artist Johann Prokop Mayer (1735-1804) as the new court gardener.
