The Glaswaldsee is known as the “black eye” in the central northern Black Forest. It is one of twelve preserved karse lakes in the Black Forest. Due to the earlier use for rafting, which required frequent damming and draining of the water, almost no silting zones could develop in the Glaswaldsee. Since 1960 the lake and its surroundings have been designated as a nature reserve Glaswaldsee. At the Glaswald-Seeblick on the Lettstädter Höhe there is a wonderful view of the Karsee
About 120 meters above the Glaswaldsee rises the lake level (960 meters) through the ridge of which the Westweg leads on a narrow forest path through a quiet and natural landscape past the Hildahütte to the Lettstädter Höhe. From the lake level there is the possibility to descend on a steep path of about 200 m to the lake, or to choose a longer and more accessible path to the lake shore.
The dark water of the lake glistens in the light of the sun and the trees around it are reflected in the water of this wild and romantic Karsee, so that an unforgettable memory of this excursion will remain in your memory. Make sure to bring plenty of time to enjoy - especially on hot days you can cool off there! 🤩👍🤩👍

Wonderful little lake, but often overcrowded due to the nearby parking lot. Although partying is forbidden, several groups have barbecued and stayed there.
