The Hohe Kirche stands between the villages of Kriwitz, Predöhl and Trabuhn, in the middle of the fields. Only a cemetery and a few trees surround them. The next houses are a good kilometer away. It is believed that this place, in the middle of today's Lemgow, was a place of worship for the Wendish Linons who lived here even before Christianization.

The origins of the church probably go back well into 1300. Today's building is not quite that old. At least the tower is said to be a proud 570 years old.

The nave, in which each village traditionally had its own place, was renewed in the 18th century and equipped with an organ by the Hanoverian organ builder Eduard Meyer in the mid-19th century.

The High Church is the traditional centre and landmark of the twelve Lemgow villages. It was probably built around 1300 by monks from the Diesdorf (Altmark) monastery. The tower may be a little younger.

The high church is the traditional focal point and symbol of the twelve Lemgowdörfer. It was built around 1300 by monks from the Diesdorf (Altmark) monastery. The tower may be a little younger.

Around 1770 the structural condition had become so bad that the central nave was demolished and rebuilt in baroque style. The tower and choir remained in place. The interior furnishings also date from this period: a double-storey gallery, pulpit altar, stalls and baptismal font.

The organ from 1856 comes from the workshop of Eduard Meyer (Hanover). It has two manuals and pedals as well as 17 registers.

The tower of the High Church houses three bells, cast in 1924, 1964 and 2004. The latter is the largest in Wendland with a weight of 2468kg and a diameter of 1.61 m.
