Built in the 12th century, the church is dedicated to Saint Anthony, the patron saint of Lisbon. The church is famous for its Gothic and Baroque architecture, and for its beautiful interior decorations, including tiles and sculptures.
The Church of Saint Anthony is also an important place for Lisbon residents, as it is here that religious ceremonies in honor of Saint Anthony are held, especially during the Festa de Santo António, which takes place in June.

Not far from the Sé Lisboa is the Igreja de Santo António de Lisboa (St. Anthony's Church). The church stands on the site where António de Padua was born in 1195. Accordingly, this church is entirely dedicated to Santo António (Saint Anthony).
Saint Anthony is a very popular saint in Lisbon and is also considered the patron saint of the city. In June, during the Festas de Lisboa (Lisbon Festival), Santo António becomes part of the festivities. On June 13, a procession takes place in honor of this patron saint of the city.
