The courtyard garden of the Coburg Residence is a particularly extensive and beautiful park that invites you to take long walks and do sports. At the opposite end, Veste Coburg towers over the park. In the Hofgarten you will find various playgrounds for children, but also monuments such as the equestrian statue of Duke Ernst II. On the edges of the park there is also the Coburg Natural History Museum, which is excellently signposted, and also the remains of city towers, etc. A really beautiful complex.

Here you can discover the variety of trees in the courtyard garden. The common yew is a native wood that grows in the partial shade of light deciduous forests on limestone sites. Except for the red fruit cups, the yew is poisonous.
The sycamore maple has a distribution area from Portugal to the Caucasus. The tree, which is up to 40 meters high and 30 meters wide, is particularly beautiful to look at in autumn. The pyramid poplar probably comes from northern Italy. It has also become known throughout Europe as the "Napoleon Poplar" because it was often planted as a street tree during this period.

Magnificent trees can be found throughout the Hofgarten below the Veste on the way to the old town. Enjoy and hike :)
