The Elbe ferry has been running from Glückstadt to Wischhafen in Lower Saxony since 1919. It is the only Elbe crossing north of Hamburg with modern large ferries for passenger transport and motor vehicles.

The 4 ferries - RV Ernst Sturm, F / S Wilhelm Kroos, F / S Glückstadt and F / S Wischhafen - have a capacity of 55 to 60 cars per ship. The passage height is up to 5.50m.

The ferry operates all year round according to a fixed timetable, with increased traffic every 20 minutes. The crossing takes about 25 minutes. Restoration is also offered on all ships during the day.
