In the past, the residents of the high-altitude town of Burggaillenreuth, which was naturally water-poor, like many other villages on the plateaus of the Franconian Jura, had to carry the water drawn here up the entire mountain in buckets and buttes. In 1877, Baron von Horneck had this hydraulic water system, also known as the ram, built, along with a water pipe, so that the people of Burggaillenreuth could obtain drinking water with less effort.

Only in 2007 was the historic water supply revived. From 1877 to 1927 the village of Burggaillenreuth was supplied with drinking water by a hydraulic ram plant. Benches invite you to linger, the water is of the best drinking water quality. On the information boards, you can find out about the historical and local significance of this source before it refreshes and continues cheerfully.

The facility is intact and there is a lot to see. The water is clear and cool - ideal for the dog. An information panel shows the history and functioning of the system.
