Eichsfeld Borderland Museum

The Grenzlandmuseum Teistungen is located in Eichsfeld, not far from Duderstadt.
About 200 m walk from the borderland museum, in the direction of Duderstadt / Gerblingerode directly on d. Federal road begins the circular route. This is 6 km long and in total are at various points 24 information boards with appropriate explanations, some original preserved Grenzsperranlagen u. Observation bunker to see. You also have a wonderful panoramic view of the area. The circular route is freely accessible at all times.
There are plenty of parking spaces at the museum, free of charge and the entrance fee is € 4.00 (normal).
I grew up in the former GDR and also lived near a border section (Elbe).
I may have experienced the border (Elbe) differently than the people in the Eichsfeld, nevertheless, the visit to and in this reminder and memorial place for me was very emotional and beautiful (scenic) at the same time. In the cafe "beautiful view" I have indulged in a delicious piece of cherry cinnamon cake. And the name "Beautiful view" bears his name rightly.

The Grenzlandmuseum Eichsfeld is located at Duderstädter Str. 7-9 in 37339 Teistungen. It stands on the site of the former border crossing Duderstadt-Worbis and shows the history of the division of Germany and how the inner German border influenced life before the opening of the border. According to the homepage (as of May 2017), the opening hours are Tuesday - Sunday 10:00 - 17:00, Monday is closed.
