The narrow strip of asphalt meanders along rock formations up the western slope of the Staufen. Here, high gradient percentages are achieved, especially in the lower section. But the effort is worth it: Above, the emperor's temple, visible from afar, awaits with a fantastic view that is unparalleled in the Vordertaunus. There is an Italian restaurant next door. From here you continue uphill on coarse gravel, making the ascent a dead end for racing cyclists and motorists. Be careful on the descent!

The ascent from Eppstein takes place on a narrow public road (dead end at the top of the restaurant and temple). With an estimated 10 to 12 percent, the incline is easily manageable for sporty cyclists who are fit.
