Almost exactly at the summit of the Marialzeller Bürgeralpe, one of the first observation towers was built in the 19th century. The wooden observation tower was replaced in 1908 by a new control room. It was built of stamped concrete and has a height of 21 meters. The control room has been named after Archduke Johann since 1959.
