Location: Wildeshausen, Landkreis Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany
The watermill on the Aue was located directly on the “Vlamsche Straat”, the Flemish Road, an old trade route from Bremen via Wildeshausen to Holland. The mill was first mentioned in the Wildeshauser town book from 1383 - but it is believed that it was already 100 years old at that time.
In 1864 the mill fell victim to a fire, and in 1905 the rebuilt mill was converted into a hydroelectric power station to generate electricity. When the bridge was blown up at the end of the Second World War, the old mill was destroyed. Because of the urgently needed electricity supply after the war, a small turbine power plant was built in its place. The new construction of the bridge in 1989/90 was accompanied by a modernization of the power plant, which has since supplied electricity to the public grid with a 30 HP Francis turbine.

An idyllic place with a beautiful water mill and pond, but unfortunately right on a narrow road, so you have to be careful not to get run over.
