The Weissensee is located in one of the most beautiful holiday areas west of the town of Füssen in the Ostallgäu district on the northern edge of the Alps. It owes its name either to the limestone deposits in the lake, which make it shimmer white, or it can be explained by the fact that an Alemanni named Wizo settled here around 600 AD.The 2.4 km long, almost 600 m wide and up to 25 m deep lake is one of the cleanest lakes in the Allgäu and is used intensively as a bathing lake in summer.

You should definitely take a break at the Weissensee panoramic viewpoint. In addition to the Weissensee, you can also see the Hopfensee and the Forggensee. But you can also see the Bannwaldsee (behind the Forgensee) and Neuschwanstein Castle from this vantage point!
