Stein am Rhein is a very touristy town. But always worth a visit.

Beautiful place in the middle of Stein am Rhein and has sun in the early morning - on the Rhine about 2 hours later. Good coffee and espresso are available in the Biker Cafe, right by the fountain. The table directly at the fountain is also super nice. The bike shop also invites you to shop for bike accessories. Great stuff !! There are noisy little shops. Be sure to go left and right from the alley into the smaller, hidden alleys. Beautiful houses, balconies and a lot less tourists. Stein am Rhein is on the Grand Tour Switzerland and is always worth a stopover. Very popular with cyclists, hikers or on water :-)

Beautifully painted houses in the center around the market square. Unfortunately partly very crowded with tourists during the main season.

Beautiful every time you arrive here. There is history in it and you have a lot to read and watch if you have time.

The half-timbered structures were added later. The facade paintings date from the Renaissance (white eagle), the Baroque (red ox) and then mainly from around 1900.

Former market square today town hall square. A very nice town with beautifully "painted" medieval houses, shops, restaurants and cafes.

Around the square, one house is more beautiful than the other. Super beautiful paintings everywhere, you don't even know where to look first.

The houses that line the market square in Stein am Rhein are a real feast for the eyes. I have rarely seen facades painted so elaborately, each of which tells a story of its own. All of these facade paintings together form a work of art that would deserve a place in the Louvre in Paris.
If you are planning a visit to Stein am Rhein, you should do so when the weather is nice. Because only then do the colorful images really come into their own.
