The history of Hohenklingen Castle is linked to the town of Stein am Rhein and the monastery of St. Georgen. Around 1200 the bailiff of the monastery erected a residential tower at this point, which was later taken over and expanded by the barons of Klingen. Over time, the castle changed hands several times and played an important military role in times of war. Today Hohenklingen Castle with its restaurant and impressive view is a popular destination.
