"This unique cultural monument on the Rhine has been a Christian urn burial site since the summer of 2007. It is a loving response to the fears many people have of anonymity and being forgotten. The crypt is the final earthly home for the dead, and for those left behind, the idyllic park with its unobstructed view of the Rhine is a comforting place of mourning. ... The mausoleum of Carstanjen in Bonn's district Plittersdorf was the largest private mausoleum on the Rhine and is historically and architecturally unique. The original family tomb, which can be viewed from the banks of the Rhine, between Auerhofstraße and Von-Sandt-Ufer in Plittersdorfer Auengrund, is now used as a public urn burial ground.
