A rabbit can be seen on the coat of arms of the town of Haßfurt, which is attached to the town hall. This is a so-called "talking coat of arms", i.e. the figure depicted alludes to the name or represents it. The place name therefore has nothing to do with "hate". More information at:

Archaeological excavations have proven that one of Hassfurt's "original settlements" was located here in the 4th/5th century AD. The castle, built on this site in the 13th century as a Würzburg official residence ("Herrenhof"), became a school (Latin school, grammar school, and secondary school) from the end of the 19th century onwards and was expanded and rebuilt several times, most recently from 1985 to 1988 as the district office.
