Walmer Castle is a fort that was built between 1539-40 on the orders of Henry III. Over the years, the castle transformed into a stately-home with stunning gardens for the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports and was a residence for many famous people, including the Duke of Wellington, Queen Elizabeth, and the Queen Mother. These days, it is a fascinating place to visit with award-winning gardens to explore.

Well worth the price of admission on a hot day with a family. Slowly take in the garden and tea rooms attached.

With almost eight acres of award-winning gardens. Walmer Castle is a picturesque coastal castle, with an incredible history. Once a Tudor artillery fortress that became a stately-home for the Lords Warden of the Cinque Ports.
