Nice route - I've explored similar on a CGR although mine's an alu job. Have you tried National Cycle Route 1 out of Canterbury to Fordwich? You'll need GPS to find where it starts but there's a nice shortish trail through the woods and then fields, and it links up to back roads from there across to Sandwich/Ramsate.
Like
