This church was consecrated in 1830. It was supposed to "form an ensemble with the Kurhaus in the classical style that was common at the time." (quote RHEINPFALZ)
"The eye-catcher in the choir is the monumental fresco painting by the artist Paul Thalheimer [1884 - 1948] - a huge altarpiece in bright colors that he created in 1938. The professor taught at the Munich Art Academy. His works were considered degenerate by the National Socialists. The fresco shows the crucifixion scene. On one of the crosses next to Jesus Christ hangs a dying man who looks like Adolf Hitler. Thalheimer was an opponent of the Reich Chancellor. That he dared to nail the dictator to the cross as a murderer, to show his criticism of the regime so openly , was courageous. Today the picture is considered a memorial. The pastor and parishioners at the time can be seen under the cross." (quote RHEINPFALZ)
"In 1982 the parish was able to get a copy of the 'Limburgmadonna'. The original from the 14th century made of oak was discovered in Grethen in 1842, where it had been saved from the Limburg fire. The original [...] is today in 'St. Maria in the Capitol' in Cologne. Further copies can be found in Grethen in front of the St. Margaretha Church and in Bad Dürkheim in the local history museum."
