Right now there is still construction going on here. Actually the external location of Buga 2021. The start was probably overslept.

Beautifully landscaped park outside of Weimar.

Special feature of the otherwise rather simple Schlosspark Kromsdorf are 64 sandstone busts embedded in the Schlossparkmauer. The idea came from Baron Johan Theodor de Montaigne, who had the busts of internationally known personalities of the time from the Emperor of Japan on European nobles to the last Inca rulers built in 1664 in the wall.

The Renaissance castle Kromsdorf was built in the 16th century by Georg Albrecht von Kromsdorf. A special feature is the castle park wall with 64 embedded busts.

Today the castle mainly offers event rooms and temporary exhibitions.

Interesting wall, is probably also unique.

"When Mortaigne redesigned the palace gardens in 1666, he set 64 niches for sandstone busts in the garden wall. It is not clear how many busts Mortaigne had made and how many his successor, Duke Wilhelm Ernst, had made. It is assumed that the majority of the busts are attributable to Wilhelm Ernst, as he was better off financially and was also a collector of such pieces. From 1709 onwards he commissioned the sculptor Hans Caspar Ritze to make more busts.
When the French troops marched through Kromsdorf in 1806, they knocked off the noses of all but around 11 busts. The sculptor Dupont began restoring them in 1833 on the orders of Grand Duke Carl Friedrich.
The rulers and military leaders are by far the most numerous, with 45 busts. There are only three poets and thinkers, however. It is also striking that only one woman is mentioned by name: Anne Stuart. The other female busts have impersonal names, such as "Woman from the island of Chios"

Particularly worth seeing is the castle park, which was laid out in the 18th century. The English-style landscape garden covers several hectares and offers an idyllic setting with numerous old trees, ponds, and sculptures.
