Road Cycling Highlight (Segment)
Extremely beautiful, narrow road right through the Palatinate Forest. Perfect in conjunction with the Kalmit increase. Fortunately for motorcycles locked in the summer but she can be quite busy at the weekend. On not so nice days you really have your peace here. Dry pine forests alternate with dense, moss-covered beech trees, while on the way a red sandstone lolls through the vegetation and some hairpin bends and curves over steep slopes are also in there. Last but not least, the road then follows a small, wild stream, where it slowly runs flat.

The Totenkopfstrasse can be approached from the west via the Elmsteiner Tal or from the east either via Maikammer or alternatively Sankt Martin. The west ramp starts comfortably with an incline of around 3% but then increases to a 10% incline after a few kilometers. At the top it ends with a 7% gradient to the Totenkopfhütte. The east ramp of Maikammer has a fairly constant gradient of around 8%. The east ramp of St. Martin is a double super street, so I prefer to drive from Maikammer.
