With the trekking bike at pleasant 15 degrees in the sun.
From 4 p.m. we couldn't go without gloves and headbands.

A day like from a picture book! Cycle in the sunshine and pleasant temperatures through the already slightly discolored autumn forest was just great! 😊😊😊

Continuation of the Elztaltour (after 10km push-related route) on the Maifeld cycle path, which runs on a former railway line. Quite original are the two illuminated, car-free tunnels of Hausen (500 and 252 m long). The Mayen mine field is not to cross, even if it suggests the map. At some point you are in front of a locked steel gate. Do not drive in darkness and without light, you can not find out!

Fascinating, adventurous ride through the wild, secluded valley of the Elz.
      Description of the tour:
On the Hochsimmer (588m, highest mountain in the region) it's on asphalt u. Forest path. Great view from the tower! Smooth descent on hiking trails and trails.
Continue to Monreal with two short trails uphill, then relaxed along forest, hiking and meadow paths.
From Monreal first asphalt and smoothly paved path to Müsch. Then mostly forest roads, individual trails in the forest and meadow to Pyrmont Castle. From Sauersmühle mostly trails and hiking trails to Eltz Castle.
      Please note:
DO NOT follow the tour below Pyrmont Castle until the route meets the main road L110 (between route kilometers 41 and 43). Here the paths are sometimes overgrown or not at all.
Although many single trails S3-S5 are classified in the komoot map, it was much more drivable than expected. There were also critical passages: in some places the trails are steep, narrow on steep slopes and occasionally damaged or broken off.
The tour is not for heavy e-bikes and should not be used on weekends, otherwise there will be stress with hikers.
The trip to the mouth of the Elz in the Moselle including the return trip to Ettringen was planned, a total of 80km and 1500m. Unfortunately had to go after 45km. cancel the defective tire.
Will be repeated slightly modified next year!

The route actually starts and ends at the sports grounds in Mayen. It runs lonely, mainly on forest u. Forest roads and offers little trails and no refreshments right on the track. Until the intersection of the two loops and back from there I liked the tour the best. Here it often runs halfway between mountain and valley without heavy climbs, really good to relax! The back loop was very lonely, in addition, the komoot cards are extremely inaccurate and the navigation was sometimes a guessing game.
From Ludwigsplatzhütte I have deviated from the imported route and have opted for the trails down to the sports grounds.
      Highly Recommended!
The final driveway to St. Johann through the old quarry terrain on some good, partly half ruined trails then cost the last grains.
