In House 1 of the former headquarters of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) there is now a research and memorial site on the political system of the GDR. The focus of the exhibition is the original office and work space of Erich Mielke, the last Minister for State Security in the GDR. There are also exhibition sections on the operational work of the MfS, on various aspects of the political system and on resistance and opposition in the GDR.

Everything is very well documented here with boards, you can also rent an audio guide (2 euros) or register for a guided tour, preferably a few days in advance ( stasimuseum.de ).
