I'm disappointed. The great castle stable with the partially still clearly visible ditches and ramparts is completely covered with spruce protection, through which you have to fight to see. Accordingly, there is no distant view.
There is no information board about the history on site. Actually a shame, you could really make something out of it.
Ultimately, you can only walk past the hiking path through the old ditch between the main castle and the outer castle.

The Burgstall Alter Rothenberg is a former high medieval Adelsburg, which lies above the Einöde Lochhof on the same Old Rotenberg, also called Reisberg, in the municipality Simmelsdorf in the district of the Middle Franconian district of Nuremberg Land in Bavaria, Germany.

Hiking

Actually, you can't see anything for the trees. But the hiking trail leads through the moat that separated the outer bailey and the main castle, and which could be crossed by a bridge. The area of this relatively large hilltop castle was oval in shape and measured approximately 220 meters long and 100 meters wide.
