Independent of the northern center of the old town around the market square, an independent settlement developed here in the 10th century. Only with the expansion of the city in the middle of the 14th century was this settlement integrated into the city. Hiking

The Frauenkirche owes its current form to the late Gothic period. Its austere beauty continues inside. The 15th century frescoes, created by Hans Strigel the Younger, are among the most important of their kind in southern Germany. The "Hawanger Madonna" on the choir arch is attributed to his brother, Ivo Strigel. The Frauenkirche was used "simultaneously" after the Reformation until 1803. This meant that Catholics and Protestants alike were able to celebrate the service.
