In 1827, the so-called "English Park" was the first urban facility in Fürth on part of the parish field of St. Michael's Church. The initiative came from the then mayors of Bäume and Schönwald. On July 13, 1827, the second mayor, Adolph Schönwald, applied to the city magistrate for part of the parish fields "to be used for a public promenade and laid out accordingly."[1] This application was quite unusual for the time, since the municipality had a public promenade wanted to make the facility accessible to all citizens, not just the wealthy. The purpose of the facility was also stated in the application: the facility was to be used for walking (= promenade). In the opinion of Schönwald and the city, the target group for the system was clearly defined, namely the working population, so that they could move around the system after work and gather new strength for the next day.fuerthwiki.de/wiki/index.php/Dr.-Konrad-Adenauer-Anlage

Traditionally, the Dr. Konrad Adenauer facility is transformed into a large open-air reading room in June / July, where you can relax and browse through new and old books in large bean bags or hammocks.
