    Tips

    August 9, 2020

    Hello,

Starting from Merano, the first 20km are easy uphill on a bike path.

The next 31Km is then down to business. Halfway through it becomes a little flatter and you can relax a little on about 2km.

We started at 9:17 at 21 degrees in the shade, which meant that we really started to drip our T-shirt on our own on the mountain, at the top we had just 13 degrees at 6 p.m.

The last 300 meters are then still torture with 8-10% incline. When you have reached the tunnels you are almost there and then only walk slightly uphill for the last km.

Be sure to take bike lights with you as there are many tunnels that are partially without lighting.

A sensible windbreaker jacket is also a must, because when you arrive at the top completely sweaty and sometimes go down at 80Km / h it gets pretty cold!

Once at the top it goes the first 6Km downhill, we had a top speed of 84Km / h on the speedometer, it's best to take the momentum with you because to the toll station it is another 2Km uphill until the further descent with about 15Km is due.

Since this is a very popular pass and therefore also very busy,

Especially by motorcyclists, this is sometimes pretty tight in their overtaking maneuvers. It is best to plan the tour during the week and not on vacation periods.

Otherwise a lot of fun and good ascents and descents.

    Greetings Marcus
