Tips

  • Franzl wandert 🥾

The suspension bridge is an impressive structure that makes it a little easier to hike through the 1,000-step gorge. 😃

Great gorge between the Unterstell and Giggelberg cable car stations. If you want to escape the many day hikers, an excursion in the early morning hours is worthwhile. At sunrise the gorge has a very special atmosphere, the animal world (birds, snakes, mice) shows up and you can climb the steps in peace.

The path sounds more exhausting than it actually is. However, concentration is of course required, especially for the steep steps. You can strengthen yourself at the end and beginning at the Giggelberg and Pirchhof inns.

A unique view of the valley combined with great impressions in the gorge and on the suspension bridge.

Beware, the bridge is not for the faint of heart. There is also no getting around it.

We have already walked this gorge 2 times, but this suspension bridge didn't exist yet. It was about 4 years ago. At that time I was already 66 years old and coped well with them. As they say, if you are in condition, it can be done easily. Just back on vacation and there are so many wonderful hikes there.

Everything is right. One thing to complain about when you are fit is to manage the tour well, one cable car up and the other down again. Only at sunrise it doesn't work because the cable cars unfortunately don't open until 8 a.m. Not long ago the Texelbahn (Giggelberg) had a very early time one day a week.
If you already live upstairs. or if you are very fit, you will climb over 900 m and then start the hike.
