The Hörnumer southern tip sinks slowly in the sea. Every year, considerable parts of the Odde are eroded by storms and disappear forever. Sooner or later, experts agree that the narrow southern tip will break off. Although the Landesbetrieb für Küstenschutz, the Schleswig-Holstein National Park and Marine Protection Authority and the Wattenmeer Ark are doing their utmost to preserve the Hörnum-Odde, the condition of the southern tip is scary.

Tetrapods: The last attempt
These 6-ton concrete vehicles are intended to help weaken the enormous power of the North Sea. Around 2,000 tetrapods are intended to protect the Kersig settlement in Hörnum from beach erosion and storm surges. To ensure that the tetrapods can withstand the force of the waves, they were placed on a special tile carpet.

The ode should be migrated only at low tide; there is not much of her left. It is getting less and less every year.
