The Kniepsand, formerly Knipsand, is an extremely slowly moving sandbank in the North Sea. It lies west of the Schleswig-Holstein island of Amrum and occupies an area of around 10 km². The Föhr-Amrum office states the area of Amrum with and without Kniepsand.

The crossing by ferry from Dagebüll or from Nordstrand (port Strucklahnungshörn) in Schleswig-Holstein to Amrum takes one and a half to two hours. Although driving on Amrum is allowed in principle, the best means of transportation on the only 10 km long and 2.5 km wide island is the bike. In addition, there is an island bus that connects all the places on Amrum regularly.
