Right in front of the Altes Museum you stand in front of the largest bowl ever made from a single stone - and at the same time in front of a real relic from the Ice Age. The granite bowl was carved out of the Great Margrave Stone, the largest boulder ever found in Brandenburg.

King Friedrich Wilhelm III. had the massive granite block from its location in the Rauesche Mountains near Fürstenwalde on the Spree split several times in 1827 and the middle disk transported over the Spree to Berlin. It was polished with a steam engine for over two and a half years and has now stood here in the Lustgarten since 1831, with a diameter of almost seven meters.

Nothing less than the world's largest one-piece granite bowl. Split in the late 1820s from the middle of the great Markgrafenstein in the Rauensche Mountains and floated down the Spree to Berlin, the bowl, polished to a mirror finish, was a marvel at the time that every Berliner and visitor to Berlin had to see.

Impressive as it stands there in front of the old museum.
Unfortunately no info, you have to google it.
