Pretzfeld was the seat of a manor of the same name. With the Rhine Confederation Act in 1806, the place became part of Bavaria.
The cherry blossoms in spring are a particular attraction for visitors, when thousands of fruit trees bloom on the slopes of the market. The Pretzfeld market is located in the middle of the largest contiguous cherry growing area in Europe. A nice introduction to the area and cherry growing is provided by the information boards on our cherry trail.
Also worth seeing is the Rococo parish church of St. Kilian, the castle and the nearby Jewish cemetery.
The annual highlight is the cherry festival in July at the Pretzfelder Bierkeller with a traditional parade.
Reachable by train every hour from Forchheim.

Pretzfeld is located at the confluence of the Trubach and the Wiesent and at the foot of the famous “Walberla”. The place is primarily known for its fruit cultivation and fruit utilization by distilleries. But some breweries are also based in the Pretzfeld market.

A visit is not only worthwhile because of the well-known cellar and the cherries. The place also has many nice corners.
