Jewish Cemetery Pretzfeld

The cemetery is located about 2 km northeast of Pretzfeld on the "Judenberg". It is located from the trail parking lot above Pretzfeld in the direction of Ebermannstadt, accessible via a forest road through the Kellerwald.

The Jewish cemetery on Judenberg, which was located outside the village since the 16th or 17th century, was the central burial place for numerous Jewish communities in the Forchheimer Land. The last funeral on the partially preserved cemetery took place in 1894. After that no Jewish family was resident in Pretzfeld.

The Jewish cemetery has existed since the 16th and 17th centuries. Century. In 1928 many tombstones were knocked over and the entrance gate was damaged.
A man from Muggendorf, appointed by the military government as a trustee after WWII, sold tombstones as building material. Only part of it could be brought back.
