The Casa do Alentejo in Lisbon is a beautiful 17th-century Moorish mansion that clearly reflects the influence of Arab culture in Portugal.
Glimpses of Morocco in the entrance hall, with its mosaic floor, and the horseshoe arches adorned with small details underpin the architecture of the building.
On the upper floor, there is a restaurant with a full menu based on typical Portuguese dishes, primarily from the Alentejo, a region in southern Portugal.

Very nice restaurant. Recommended are the Stockfisch and a regional wine.

Although often described as a funicular, it is technically unsuitable as traction is not provided by the cable but by electric motors on the two carriages (hence the current pickup). The cable merely connects the two cars so that they get on and off at the same time.
